An overview of my most noteworthy projects

Zakkenrollen

For this project I worked together with Fay Zeilstra, Stein Rozenberg, and Sarah Zwerus.

Concept:
We realised that the jacket you wear, and the random items tucked away in its pockets, can reveal a lot about who you are. This sparked a question: could wearing someone else’s jacket be a new way of getting to know them?

To explore this idea, we found six participants and paired them into three duos. Each person was interviewed about their own jacket, an item they cherished and identified with, before giving it up for a week. In exchange, they received the jacket of a complete stranger.

After a week, we spoke with the participants again. What had they discovered about the other person through this intimate, material exchange? How much of someone’s personality can you sense through their clothing alone?

Finally, the moment arrived: each pair met in person for the first time. During a joint interview, we asked whether their impressions matched reality. The project concluded with a classic Dutch borrel, where all duos came together to share their experiences.

The entire process was documented on film and transformed into a short documentary capturing this unique social experiment.
